About Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath is located on Kumara Krupa Road at the Art Complex. It’s a pretty large space and there is almost always some kind of activity happening in one of the galleries. We have several different areas where artists can show their work. Most people in the city know where we are. The old trees along Kumara Krupa Road give a lot of shade, so it stays a bit cooler here even when the sun is out. We spend a lot of our time moving frames around or setting up for the next exhibition. It isn’t a one-person job; it takes a whole team to keep the complex running and clean. We see art students, professional artists, and people who just want to see something interesting. It gets a little chaotic when there is a big festival or an opening night, but usually, it’s just a steady flow of people walking through. The buildings have been here for a long time and you can see that in the walls and the floors, but we think that gives it some character. We don't try to make it look like a modern office building. It’s a place for people to look at art and learn. People come here to get away from the city traffic for an hour or two. We just keep the gates open and handle whatever needs doing that day. It's a busy place but we like the energy that the artists bring in.
