Kallur Mahalakshmi Tabla Vidyalaya

Kallur Mahalakshmi Tabla Vidyalaya is tucked away in Banashankari 3rd Stage, over in Sector 35. Our address is D 41342. We aren't a big music academy with a lot of staff. It's really just a place where we teach the tabla to anyone who wants to learn. The rooms are simple and we mostly sit on the floor on mats, which is the proper way to play. We have quite a few sets of tablas lying around for the students to use. It gets pretty loud in here when a few people are practicing at once, but the neighbors have mostly gotten used to the rhythm. We have students of all ages, from little kids who can barely reach the drums to older people who just want a new hobby. I’ve been teaching here for a while and it's always interesting to see how people progress. We don't have any fancy brochures or a website. Most people find us because they live nearby and hear the drums, or someone told them about us. It’s a very humble setup, just some fans on the ceiling and the sound of music. We don't do any big corporate events or anything. It’s just about passing on the skill of playing the tabla to the next generation in our little corner of Banashankari.
