K C Das is located at Mahathma Gandhi Road 38. This is a very busy part of the city, and there are always people walking past the shop at all hours. Our place at number 38 is known for its traditional sweets, and we have large glass displays filled with different items every day. The staff is usually busy packing sweets into cardboard boxes and tying them up with yellow string. It gets very crowded on the weekends when people are out shopping on MG Road and want to take something home. You can hear the constant honking of cars and the chatter of the crowds outside our door. The shop has a high ceiling and the floor is made of old stone that has been worn smooth over the years. We have to stay on our feet for most of the shift to serve everyone who comes to the counter. Behind the scenes, there is a lot of work going on to keep the trays full and the shop clean. We have been at this address for a long time, and the routine hasn't changed much. It is a simple process of weighing the sweets, packing them up, and moving on to the next person in line. The air inside smells like sugar and milk, which is something we don't even notice anymore because we are here so often.
