Gospel Book Centre

If you go to Lingarajapuram and head down Jumma Masjid Road, you will find us at number 2 in the Ess Arr Complex. Gospel Book Centre has been in this building for a while now. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but it’s a nice area once you get away from the main road. The complex itself is older and has a few different shops inside it. We have shelves lined with all sorts of books and materials. It’s usually quiet inside, which is a nice change from the busy street outside. Jumma Masjid Road gets quite crowded on Fridays, so we often see a lot of people walking past our windows. Our space is a bit cramped because we have so many boxes of books waiting to be put out. We don't have fancy lighting or modern displays, just simple wooden shelves and a small counter near the door. Sometimes the ceiling leaks a little when the monsoon rains are really heavy, so we have to move the books around to keep them dry. We know most of the people who live in the neighborhood and they stop by to see what's new on the shelves. It’s a steady kind of life, surrounded by paper and ink. We open up in the morning and stay until the sun goes down, just like the other shops in the complex.
