Gokul Dairy Products

The day starts very early for us at Gokul Dairy Products. By four in the morning, the trucks are already arriving at our spot on 5th Main in Promod Layout, Nagasandra. We are at number 66, and it is a busy little corner when the crates are being unloaded. The air is always cool inside because of the large refrigeration units we have to run. It smells like fresh milk and sometimes a bit like the ghee we keep in the back. My boots are usually wet from washing down the floors, as we have to keep everything very clean around the dairy tanks. We handle a lot of milk packets, curd, and butter. The sound of the plastic crates clinking against each other is the soundtrack to our mornings. Most of our neighbors are still asleep when we are at our busiest. By the time the sun is up, the local tea shop owners start coming by with their empty cans. We have a small counter where people can buy a single packet of milk or a tub of yogurt. The walls are painted a plain white and have some scuff marks from the crates being stacked too high. It is a straightforward business without much fuss. We just make sure the cold storage is working right and that the deliveries go out to the local houses on time. The work is cold and damp, but it is steady. We just keep moving the bottles and packets until the sun goes down.
