Ganesh Sweets

You can find Ganesh Sweets over in BTM Layout at the 11th Cross. We are in the Chanappa Reddy Layout, number 10. It’s a busy little corner. The smell of sugar and frying ghee is pretty much constant here. We start early in the kitchen, getting the batches ready for the day. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring big pots and shaping the sweets by hand. We don’t use a lot of big machines; we prefer doing it the old way. The shop floor is small and it gets crowded during the festivals. People from the neighborhood have been coming here for years. We know most of them by name. It’s not a polished, modern store. It’s just a place where we make sweets. The floor is usually a bit dusty from the flour, and there’s always a stack of boxes waiting to be filled. We’re just regular people working here. My uncle started it, and now we just keep it going. The 11th Cross is a lively street, and we like being part of it. We don’t do any big advertising. Word of mouth seems to work fine for us. If you walk past number 10, you’ll probably see us through the window working on the next batch. It’s hot in the kitchen, but we’re used to it. We just focus on making sure every tray looks right and nothing gets burnt.
