First Grocery

First Grocery is our family-run store over at Banneraghatta Road 204. We carry all the basics like rice, dal, spices, and whatever vegetables looked good at the market that morning. The space is a bit narrow, so we had to put the heavy bags of grain near the entrance. It smells like a mix of coffee beans and turmeric inside, which I’ve gotten used to over the years. We spend most of our time weighing out items and bagging them up for the neighbors. Banneraghatta Road is always jammed with cars, but our shop stays a bit of a steady point for the people living right here. We don’t have those fancy scanners; we just know the prices by heart. Sometimes the delivery of bread is late, and we have to tell people to come back in an hour. We try to keep the shelves full, but occasionally we run out of something popular. It’s just how it goes when you’re a small outfit. We’ve got a stool behind the counter where we take turns sitting when the shop isn't crowded. We aren't looking to expand into a supermarket or anything like that. We just like being the place where you can grab a kilo of sugar and a bunch of bananas on your way home. It’s a simple life at number 204, keeping the pantry staples ready for whoever needs them. We close around nine most nights once the traffic dies down.
