About Datar Institute Of Fine Arts – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
We are over in Baraveshwar Nagar 2nd Stage, right on 26th Main at number 569. It’s a bit of a residential area, so it’s peaceful for what we do. At Datar Institute of Fine Arts, we spend our time with brushes, clay, and pencils. The floors usually have a bit of paint on them, no matter how much we sweep. It’s not a sterile gallery or a fancy school. It’s a place where people come to learn and get their hands dirty. We have canvases leaning against the walls and half-finished projects on every table. The light comes in really well through the windows in the morning. We don't have a big reception area or a formal dress code. Most of us are just wearing old clothes that we don't mind getting stained. We’ve been in this building for a few years and the neighbors are used to seeing us carrying supplies in and out. It’s a very hands-on environment. Sometimes we have music playing, other times it’s just the sound of people working. We don't talk much about artistic vision in a heavy way. We just show people how to hold a brush or mix colors properly. It’s more about the practice than anything else. If you’re looking for 569 on 26th Main, that’s where you’ll find us. We keep things relaxed and just focus on making things every single day.
