About Danish Glass Creators – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
So, we are over at the Ramaiah Building, No. 5/6, right on the 3rd Cross off Kilari Road. If you know this part of the city, you know how packed it gets. Getting a truck in here to unload glass is a real headache most mornings. We have to watch the mirrors and hope nobody parks too close to the entrance. Inside, it's mostly stacks of glass sheets leaning against the walls. You have to be careful where you step because there might be a small shard or some dust on the floor. Danish Glass Creators is just the name we’ve used since we started up in this spot. We spend most of our time with the cutters and the smoothing tools. It makes a specific kind of scratching sound that you get used to after a week or so. The light comes in through the front door because the building is a bit deep and dark in the back. We keep a few samples out, but mostly it's just crates and worktables. Ramaiah Building is an old place, so the walls have some cracks and the ceiling fans squeak. It’s not a showroom where everything is shiny and perfect. It’s a workshop. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake while we do the fine work on the edges. When the day is done, we sweep up the floor and lock the heavy gate.
