Working at Dairy Craft (India) Pvt Ltd means you’re always around the smell of milk and the hum of refrigerators. We are located at Sudham Nagar 4, and it’s a pretty busy little hub for us. Most of the work happens in the early hours while most people are still asleep in their beds. That’s when the trucks come in and we have to move fast to get everything stored away before it gets warm. It’s cold inside because of the refrigeration, so we always have to wear extra layers even when the sun is out. We handle a lot of different dairy things, mostly cheese and butter and that kind of stuff. It’s a lot of checking dates and making sure the crates are stacked properly so nothing gets crushed. The floors are always a bit wet from the constant cleaning we do to keep things tidy. We don’t really do any big speeches or meetings; we just get on with the task at hand. It’s a practical kind of job. You’ll see us moving back and forth between the cold storage and the loading dock all day long. Sometimes a delivery is late and we just sit around the back door and chat for a bit. It’s just a group of people doing a job that needs doing every single day. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a place where we keep the coolers running.
