D K Dance Academy

Our place is tucked away in Banashankari 3rd Stage, over in Keshav Nagar at No. 2. It’s usually pretty quiet in the mornings, but by the afternoon, the whole building starts to shake a bit from the music. We have been here for a while and the neighborhood knows us by the noise, I suppose. The floor is always needing a sweep because of all the feet coming in and out. It isn't a massive hall or anything, but we make it work with what we have. Students come from all over this part of town, mostly kids after school lets out. Their parents wait outside on the scooters or chat near the entrance. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when the bigger classes are happening, especially when everyone is trying to move at once. We don’t have fancy air conditioning, just some fans that work hard during the summer months. You can hear the sounds of the street mixing with the beats we play. It feels like a real part of the community here. I spend a lot of time just fixing the speakers or talking to parents about the schedules. It’s a lot of work to keep a dance academy going, but seeing people actually get the steps right makes it feel alright. We are just a local spot for people who want to move around and have something to do in the evenings instead of just sitting at home.
