Choco Factory

Over in Vishveshwaraiah Puram, we have our small place called Choco Factory. We are at Chakudia 6. It’s not a big fancy factory like you see on the television, just a place where we make sweets and chocolates. The smell of sugar and cocoa is always there in the air. Some days it is quite strong and you can smell it from down the street. We spend a lot of time in the back working with the ingredients. It’s a bit messy sometimes. Flour and cocoa powder get everywhere if you aren’t careful with the bags. We’ve been at this for a while now. The neighborhood is okay, quite a few people walking past our door. We try to keep the shelves filled up as best as we can. It takes a lot of time to get the batches right. Sometimes things don't set properly if the weather is too hot or too humid. We have to watch the temperature inside the room. People come in looking for a little something sweet after their lunch. It’s mostly just us doing the daily work. We don’t do big ads or anything. We just stay here and keep the machines running. Or sometimes it’s all done by hand. Washing the trays and the bowls takes up a lot of time at the end of the day. It’s just a normal job. You get used to the sweet smell after a while, and you don't even notice it anymore. We just keep making what we can. It’s a quiet life at number 6.
