About Bansuri Sweets – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
Our shop sits at number 322 in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. It’s a nice enough area and we have good people living around us. At Bansuri Sweets, the morning starts with the delivery of fresh milk. We have to get the big vats going early so the sweets have time to set before we open the glass cases. There is a lot of stirring involved in this job. Your arms get tired after a few hours of working the sugar and milk together. We spend a lot of time arranging the trays so they look neat. The floor is tile, which makes it easier to wash down at the end of the night because things can get sticky. We don't use a lot of fancy machines; it is mostly just our hands and the stove. During festival times, we are here until midnight sometimes, just trying to keep up with what people want. People come in for a box of something to take to a friend's house or just a single piece to eat right there. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit if we turn it on high, but it keeps the air moving. We’ve got a small back room where we store the sacks of flour and sugar. It’s a lot of work to keep everything running, but we have a good routine down now. We just open up, do our work, and see who walks through the door. It is a steady way to spend the day.
