This part of Bangalore is always moving, especially with all the shops and people around the 7th Block. At Chimneys Gallery, we spend our time surrounded by various types of kitchen hoods and exhaust systems. Most people come in because their kitchens are getting too oily or smoky, and they need something to fix that. We have different models on display so people can see how they actually look and hear how loud the fans are before they decide on anything. The shop is simple; we keep the displays clean, but it is a working space. We talk to a lot of homeowners and some contractors who are doing up new flats in the area. Being near a big landmark like Tanishq helps people find us, though the traffic on 100 Ft Road can be a bit much in the evenings. We’ve been here long enough that the local shopkeepers know us. We don’t go in for big sales pitches. Usually, we just show how the filters work or explain the difference between the suction powers of the various units. It’s a practical business. People want a clean kitchen, and we provide the machines that help with that. It gets a bit dusty with the road construction nearby, but we keep the gallery open and ready for whoever walks up the stairs.
