Art Is Zen

My place is called Art Is Zen and you’ll find us at 78 Kamanahalli Main Road in Dhankawadi. We are pretty close to Satya Hospital, which is a good landmark if you’re looking for us. It’s not a huge studio, but it has enough room for all the supplies we keep on hand. I spent a lot of time getting the walls painted and the shelves up when we first moved in. There is usually some paint on the floor because accidents happen when you're working. It’s a bit messy, to be honest. Brushes are drying in jars and there are half-finished projects sitting on the tables. I like the atmosphere here because it feels real. People come in to look around or work on something they've started. It isn’t a high-end gallery with white walls and silence. We usually have some music playing or just the sound of the traffic from Kamanahalli Main Road coming through the door. It’s a local neighborhood spot. I spend most of my time here, even on the weekends. Sometimes the sink gets clogged with clay or paint, and we have to fix it ourselves. It's just a small business run by people who actually like what they do. We don't have a big corporate plan. We just open the doors every morning and see who comes in. It’s a simple life and I’m glad to be doing it here in Dhankawadi.
