Jiyaji Marble

Jiyaji Marble is tucked away in the Industrial Area at H-1, 188. If you come by, you’ll see it’s a pretty standard setup for this part of town. We have slabs of marble lined up everywhere you look. It’s a lot of stone to keep track of, but we manage. The air always smells a bit like wet stone because we use water to keep the dust down when we are moving things around. It isn't a glamorous job by any means. Our boots are usually covered in slurry, and our hands stay rough from handling the edges of the marble. We have a small crew here, and everyone knows their job. We don’t have a receptionist sitting at a front desk. Usually, if you walk in, you’ll find one of us out in the yard or near the cranes. We just show people what is available in the stacks. Some days are slower than others, which gives us time to reorganize the yard, but mostly we are busy with the back-and-forth of the trucks. The sun gets hot out here in the open, but we are used to it by now. It is just the way the stone business works in this industrial patch. We don't try to make it sound like more than it is. It is honest work with heavy materials, and we do it every day.
