We operate out of the Dnd Complex in Daud. It’s a bit different being in a complex rather than a standalone yard, but it works for us. We handle all sorts of stone supplies and our space is usually packed to the ceiling with different varieties. Moving things in and out of the complex takes some coordination, especially when the big trucks arrive. We spend a lot of time talking to the other business owners nearby and coordinating the space so nobody gets blocked in. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and shifting pieces to show customers the grain and the color. We don’t use any polished marketing language here. We just show you what we’ve got sitting in the stalls. Sometimes the inventory is a bit disorganized when a big shipment comes in all at once, and we have to spend a couple of days just sorting through everything. It’s a family-run kind of feel, even though we are just a small team. We have our regulars who come back whenever they have a new project, and we usually know exactly what they are looking for before they even ask. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of cut stone and earth. It’s not an easy job, but it’s what we know how to do, and we just keep at it day after day. It is just a regular life in the stone trade.
