Sri Venkateshwara Bags

Sri Venkateshwara Bags is situated at 1 Kolhewadi in the Balepet area. Balepet is known for its narrow streets and its history as a hub for all sorts of trade. Our shop is right there at the start of the lane. We deal in all kinds of bags, from the ones people use for weddings and gifts to the regular ones for carrying groceries. The space is quite small, so we have to use every inch of the walls to hang our products. It makes the shop look very colorful with all the different fabrics and designs. We spend most of the day standing or sitting on a small stool near the entrance. Customers walk in off the street, often after visiting the other nearby markets. We don't have any air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that hums away all afternoon. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when three or four people come in at once, but we manage somehow. We handle all the sales ourselves, counting out the change and bagging up the items. It is a simple way to earn a living, and we enjoy seeing the familiar faces of the other traders in Kolhewadi. We have been here for years, and not much has changed in the way we do things. We open up the doors early in the morning and stay until the market starts to quiet down at night. It is home to us.
