Harichandanpur Farmers Producer Company is based right here in Harichandanpur, specifically in the Baragoda area. We’ve been farming these parts for generations, so it felt right to start something official. It's not a fancy setup. We mostly use a small building near the police station to keep our tools and records. Farming in Harichandanpur has its ups and downs, depending on how much rain we get. We started the company to help all the local growers get a bit of a better deal when they sell their produce. It’s much easier to talk to buyers when there are many of us instead of just one. We spend a lot of time out in the fields, so the office is often empty until the evening. We talk about stuff like crop rotation and where to find the best price for fertilizer. There isn't much corporate talk here. We just speak plainly about what needs to be done. Sometimes the equipment breaks, or the transport doesn't show up on time, but we figure it out. It’s a local effort, run by people who actually know how to plow a field. We don't have any big goals other than keeping our farms going and making sure our families have a future here. If you’re ever in Baragoda, you’ll probably see us working or sitting around the shop talking shop. It’s just how things go in our town and we like it that way.
