Bani Khetra Women Farmers Producer Company Limited is located over at Dinabandhu Rout’s place in Tanarapo, near Redhua. This area around Raghunathpur is full of hardworking women who know their way around a field better than anyone. We started this company because we realized that by working together, we could handle the business side of farming much better. It’s not a polished operation. We spend most of our time in the fields and only come together for the company stuff when we have to. We talk about what crops are growing well and where we can sell them for a bit of a better price. The village life is busy, and we don't have time for corporate talk or complicated strategies. We just look at what we have and figure out the next step. Sometimes we’re worried about the dry spells, and other times we’re dealing with too much rain. Our company helps us stay organized so we can face these things as a group. It’s about community and helping the women here get a little more for their hard work. We keep our records in simple notebooks and make decisions by talking things through until we all agree. It’s the way we’ve always done things here, just now we have a name for our group. We keep pushing forward even when it gets difficult.
