We operate Devikandal Farmer Producer Company Limited from the home of Rama Chandra Mohapatra. We are situated in Bhaliakanapo, which is part of Kulashree and falls under the Niali police station. It is a very local setup. We don't have a big corporate sign or a reception area. It is just a place where we meet to talk about our crops. Most of us in the group have been farming around Niali for generations. We know the land and we know the people here. Setting up Devikandal Farmer Producer Company Limited was a way for us to stick together. Farming is getting complicated these days with all the new rules and the way the market changes. We aren't experts in business, we are experts in growing things. We spend our days out in the sun and our evenings trying to figure out the paperwork at Rama Chandra’s place. It isn't always smooth. Sometimes we get frustrated with the process, but we keep going because it is better than being on our own. In Kulashree, everyone knows everyone else. That makes it easier to trust the people you are working with. We don't use any fancy talk or try to sell ourselves. We just do the work that needs doing. It’s a simple life, and we are just trying to make sure the farming community here stays strong. We take it one day at a time and hope for the best for our harvests.
