Our group is based in Azamgarh, specifically around Bhaisasur and Vinovapuri. Tez Pratap Pandey looks after the main work at house number 84. We started Baba Prathamdev Farmers Producer Companylimited because the small farmers around here were getting ignored. It’s not a big business with suits and ties. We are people who get our hands dirty every single day. We deal with the local crops that grow well in this soil. It can be a struggle when the weather doesn't behave. We talk about how to get the water to the fields and what seeds are working best lately. Tez Pratap is a good man and he helps keep us all on the same page. We don't have a lot of money for big advertising. We just tell our neighbors about what we are doing. It’s about being fair to each other. When we go to the market in Azamgarh, we try to go as a group. It makes things a bit simpler for everyone involved. We are just trying to keep our traditions alive while finding ways to survive in the current times. Farming is what our fathers did and what we do now. It’s a simple life but it’s our life. We don't need anything more than a decent crop and a fair price. That’s why we are here in Vinovapuri.
