Narang Manpreet Kaur Architect

We’ve been at 2104-C-Block in Rajit Avenue for quite some time. I am Narang Manpreet Kaur, and this is where all the architectural work happens. It is not a very big space, and mostly it is just filled with rolls of paper, pens, and a few old computers. People who come to see us usually find the place by asking the locals in the neighborhood. Rajit Avenue is a pretty quiet area, which helps a lot when I need to sit down and focus on a complicated drawing. Sometimes people just drop by to talk about their house ideas, and we end up sitting around the old wooden table for an hour. The office isn't fancy or polished. We have sketches pinned up all over the walls, and the desks are usually a bit of a mess with site plans. A good part of the day is spent on the phone talking to contractors or trying to figure out why a delivery is late. When the coffee machine in the corner breaks down, we just walk down to the little shop at the end of the block. Being an architect here involves a lot of back and forth with the local planning people. I try to stay on top of things, but when we are busy, the paperwork tends to pile up. It’s just a few of us here, so it feels more like a workshop than a corporate office. It is nice being part of the community here in the block.
