Shree Venkateshwara Restra

Our place is called Shree Venkateshwara Restra and we are over at Adarsh Garden on G T Road. It’s right opposite the CATC Gate in Bamrauli. Being on the main road means there’s always someone stopping by. The shop number is 1/1. It’s a small space. I get here early to start the tea. My helper shows up a bit later, usually yawning. We serve the people who work across the road. It’s not a big fancy dining room. Just a few benches and a counter. The tea stays hot in the big kettle all morning. Allahabad summers are no joke so we try to keep the place shaded with a bit of a tarp out front. I don’t use any computers for the bills, just a small pad and a pen. Sometimes I lose the pen and have to search under the jars. G T Road is never quiet. You get used to the honking after a while. We have some regulars who have been coming for years. They just sit and talk for an hour or so. I don’t mind. It makes the day go faster. We keep things simple. If we run out of something, we just tell the customers. They usually understand. It’s a small life but it’s ours. We just try to get through the lunch rush without dropping too many plates. That's about all there is to say about us.
