Mirchees

Mirchees is located in Katra, Allahabad, right opposite the Jain Hostel in Colonelganj. It’s an old part of town with a lot of history and narrow streets. We’ve been here for a while, serving the local crowd and students who live nearby. It’s not a big fancy establishment. It’s just a place where we cook food and people come to eat it. We chose Katra because it’s always lively. Being near the hostel means we see a lot of the same faces every day. We don't have a big mission statement or a polished look. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the chairs are just regular ones. But we focus on what’s happening in the kitchen. We wake up early to get everything ready before the lunch rush starts. It’s hard work, but we like the routine of it. Allahabad can get very hot in the summer, so we try to keep the place as cool as possible for whoever comes in. We’re not part of some big company. We just run this one shop. If you’re walking past the Jain Hostel, you’ll see us. We’re just local people cooking for other local people. It’s straightforward and we don’t try to make it sound like more than it is. Just a small spot in Katra where you can grab a bite.
