About Tulsi Textiles – Fashion & Trends in Ahmedabad
Being on the 3rd floor of Ghanshyam Complex means people have to walk up or take the lift just to see us. We are right across from Victoria Jublie Hospital in Panchkuva. It's an old part of the city and it feels like it every single day. The streets are narrow and crowded with people and cycles, but that is just Khadia for you. At Tulsi Textiles, we spend a lot of time looking at patterns and checking for defects in the cloth we receive. We get a lot of people who are looking for specific materials for their own small shops or tailoring businesses. It is mostly wholesale stuff that we keep here. The light in the complex isn't always the best, so we sometimes have to take the fabric near the window to see the real color and texture. My brother usually handles the accounts while I talk to the suppliers and the customers. We have a small wooden desk tucked in the corner where we keep all the files and our old calculator. It is a bit cramped when we have three or four people visiting at once. Sometimes the lift breaks down and we have to carry bundles up the stairs, which isn't fun for our backs. But we are used to it by now. We have been in this spot for years and know all the other shopkeepers on this floor. We mostly just drink tea and talk about the market while we wait for the next delivery.
