Surbhi Marble & Granite

Running a yard like this near the Bhagvat Petrol Pump means there is always a lot of movement around us. The trucks come in early with slabs of granite and marble from the quarries and we have to get them unloaded without any cracks. It is heavy work and we are out in the sun most of the day. The ground is usually wet because we pour water over the stone to show the customers what the colors look like when they are polished up. Opp Ekta Gas is where people look for us if they get lost. We have different stacks of stone leaning against the walls and you have to be careful walking between them. My boots are always ruined by the slurry and the mud. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby or anything like that. If you come by, you will probably find me talking to a driver or checking the edges of a new shipment. Some days it is very quiet and we just organize the smaller offcuts. Other days it feels like everyone in the area is building something at the same time and it gets hectic. We just try to keep track of what is in stock and what needs to go out. The stone is cold and heavy and it defines our whole day. We just stay busy with the loading and the lifting and hope the rain stays away from the yard.
