Ambica Ceramic Industries

We have been operating out of Plot No. 12 in Phase 1 of the GIDC for a good many years now. It is a busy industrial area and our days are mostly spent dealing with the heat from the kilns and the fine dust that comes from working with clay. The work we do here is mostly manual and it can get quite tiring, especially when the summer heat kicks in and the factory floor feels like an oven. We started this ceramic business because there was a need for these parts locally, and we just kept at it day after day. Most of the men working here have stayed with us for a long time, so we all know the routine well. We don't really bother with fancy office work; we are usually out there making sure the firing process is going right. You can hear the hum of the machinery from the street and see the trucks backing in to load up finished tiles or industrial components. Sometimes the power goes out in the middle of a batch and we just have to sit on the benches outside and wait. It isn’t a very exciting life but it’s a steady one. We keep our tools in order even if the floor is always a bit messy with raw materials. It is just a group of us doing our daily work in this corner of the industrial estate.
