Soni Technical Textiles

Our place is at number 217/2599 in Pratiksha on Sola Road, over in Naranpura. It’s more of a workspace than a typical shop you might see in a mall. We deal with technical textiles, so it’s a lot of specific fabrics and materials that aren't just for regular clothes. The building is a bit older, but it’s sturdy and gives us the room we need for our rolls of cloth. Naranpura is a nice area, quite settled. We’ve got machines in the back and stacks of material everywhere you look. It’s not the cleanest place because there’s always lint and scraps on the floor from the cutting we do. We don't have a receptionist or anything. If someone comes to the door, one of us just stops what we are doing and goes to talk to them. It’s very hands-on here. We spend our days measuring out lengths of fabric and checking the quality of the weaves. Some of the stuff we work on is quite heavy. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and moving things around. We don't really do any advertising. People who need these kinds of textiles usually just find us through word of mouth or because they’ve been coming here for years. It’s a quiet, steady kind of business on Sola Road. We keep the machines running most of the day and head out once the sun goes down.
