Somani Tea Depo

Our shop is at Plot No. 41/42 in Vardhaman Colony, and we are very close to the bus stand. Because of the buses, there’s always a lot of noise and people rushing around nearby. We started Somani Tea Depo as a place to keep and sell tea in bulk. The bags are heavy and they are stacked all the way to the ceiling in the back room. You can smell the tea the moment you step inside the colony gates. It’s a strong, earthy scent that never really leaves your clothes. We spend most of our time weighing out portions on the old scale we’ve had since the beginning. It’s not digital, but it works just fine. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when the sun is beating down on Vardhaman Colony. Sometimes the bus drivers stop by for a quick word while they are on their break. We don't have a fancy showroom or a website that we update. Mostly, we just write things down in a big paper notebook with a blue pen. The ink sometimes smears because our hands get sweaty from the work. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around to find the right batch. We don’t mind the hard work though. It’s what we know how to do, and being near the bus stand keeps us feeling like we’re part of the town’s pulse.
