Shyam Textile

Our place, Shyam Textile, is situated at No. 18 in Yogeshwar Estate. It is right behind Ashima Mill, so we are surrounded by the constant sound of industrial machinery and the smell of raw cotton. This part of the New Cotton Circle is always busy with laborers carrying heavy loads and tempos trying to navigate the narrow lanes. The estate itself is old and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for what we need. Inside, it is mostly just rows of fabric rolls and a small corner where we handle the paperwork. The lighting is a bit dim towards the back of the shed. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the materials coming in. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we just sit outside on the stone steps until it comes back on. It’s not a glamorous job, especially when it rains and the mud gets everywhere around the mill area. We’ve got a couple of guys who have been working with us since the start. We mostly deal with other businesses in the circle who need specific types of cloth. There’s always a layer of fine lint on everything, no matter how much we sweep. It is just the way things are when you are located in the heart of an industrial estate like this one.
