Samrat Marble

If you are driving along the Sarkhej Gandhinagar Highway, you’ll find Samrat Marble near the Umiya Mataji Campus in Gota Gam. It’s a huge road and there is always a lot of movement around here. We’ve been set up in this spot for years, and we’ve watched Gota grow up around us. Our yard is pretty packed with marble from different places. It’s dusty work, and the sun can be quite strong out here on the highway, but we’re used to it by now. We spend our days showing different blocks to people who are building their homes or fixing up shops. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning; it’s mostly just an open space where you can see the stone in the natural light. We think that’s better anyway because you see what you’re actually getting. My brother and I handle most of the daily stuff, from talking to the truck drivers to helping customers pick out a pattern they like. We don’t follow a strict corporate script. We just talk to people like they are our neighbors, because often they are. It’s a simple way to run a business, and it has served us well so far. We just keep our heads down and keep the stock moving. The highway noise is just a background hum to us now, and we barely notice it while we are working.
