Sagar Chinese & Mughlai

Our shop is tucked away in Dhalgarwad, right behind the Tutorial Market. If you know Ahmedabad, you know how crowded this area gets. Sagar Chinese & Mughlai has been here for a bit, just a small spot where we cook up things in big woks. It’s always noisy because of the market right there. Much of the day is spent chopping vegetables and getting the meat ready for the evening rush. It’s not the kind of place you come for a fancy dinner, it’s more for people who are in a hurry or want to take something home after shopping. The smell of garlic and spices is always around the shop. We have a few stools but mostly it’s busy around the counter. The guys in the kitchen have been working together for years. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls, just the menu and some old tiles. Dhalgarwad is a maze, but people seem to find us anyway. Sometimes we run out of specific ingredients because the market was too crowded to get the delivery through. We just make do with what we have. It’s a simple life running a food stall here. We keep the stove going until late at night. There’s no big secret to what we do, we just show up and start cooking every single day behind Tutorial Market. Dealing with the heat in the kitchen is tough during summer, but the customers keep coming.
