Rock Regency Restaurant

This restaurant is part of the Hotel Rock Regency over on Law Garden Road. We are right in the middle of Navrangpura, which is a place that never really seems to sleep. The kitchen here is where we spend most of our lives. It’s not one of those open kitchens where everything looks like a TV show; it’s a real working space with soot on the walls and the sound of heavy pans. We serve the people staying in the hotel but a lot of locals come in too, especially after they’ve been walking around the Law Garden area. The tables are sturdy and the chairs have been sat in by thousands of people over the years. We don't have a chef with a tall white hat, just guys who have been cooking the same dishes for a long time and know how the stove behaves. Sometimes the service is a bit slow when we get a big rush at night, but we try to keep up. The menu is printed on simple paper and we don't use fancy words for the food. It’s just things like dal, rotis, and vegetables. We keep the fans on high because the kitchen heat moves into the dining room. It’s just a place to eat a meal without any fuss or complicated decorations. We’re just here doing our thing every day. Sometimes we have to change the light bulbs during dinner.
