Patel Marbles & Stone/Patel Trading

You can find us right across from the Motera Stadium Gate on Motera Road. Being in Sabarmati, specifically near such a big landmark, makes it pretty easy for folks to explain where we are. We go by a few names, Patel Marbles & Stone or Patel Trading, but it’s all the same group of us here. Our yard is usually filled with different types of stone and marble slabs. It’s heavy stuff, so there’s always a bit of noise from the loading and unloading. When there’s a big match or an event at the stadium, the whole road gets packed, and things get a bit crazy around here. We’ve learned to work around the schedule of the stadium. It’s a dusty job, working with stone all day, so our clothes and the yard are rarely ever perfectly clean. We don't mind it much because it’s part of the trade. We have a small area where we sit down with people to talk about what they need for their homes or buildings. It’s mostly just us and a couple of workers moving things around. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just a local business that’s been sitting on this road for a long time. We try to be helpful when someone walks in, even if they're just looking around. That’s how we’ve always done things here in Sabarmati. It's a lot of manual labor, but we've been at it for years.
