Nishi Granites

The yard over here at No.6/1A on Sastri Road is usually pretty dusty, but that’s just part of working with stone. We’ve been in Kovilmedu for a while now, dealing with all kinds of granite slabs. It’s heavy work, and our backs definitely feel it by the end of the day. We have stacks of stone lined up, and customers come by to walk through the rows and pick out what they like. Every piece is a bit different, which is why people prefer coming here instead of looking at pictures. Sometimes we spend half the day just moving slabs around with the crane so someone can see a piece that’s stuck at the bottom of the pile. It can be frustrating when the weather is bad, but we still show up and do what needs doing. The traffic on Sastri Road can get loud, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home. We aren't a big showroom with lights and fancy displays. It’s just a yard where we keep the inventory. Most of our regular buyers are local builders or families from around the neighborhood who are fixing up their kitchens. We talk to them plainly and tell them what’s good and what might have a crack. It’s better to be upfront about those things. It’s a simple way to run a business, and it works for us. We've been at this quite some time and plan to stay.
