Neelkamal Restaurant

Neelkamal Restaurant is located on Shahibaug Road, right near the Civil Hospital. If you know the area, we are just opposite the Next Showroom in Baliya Limdhi. It is a hectic part of town because of the hospital, so we get a lot of people who are just passing through or visiting relatives. I have lived in Ahmedabad my whole life, and Shahibaug has always been a busy spot. The restaurant itself is pretty modest. We have some old fans that have been around since we opened, and they make a bit of a clicking sound when they are on high. The kitchen is small, so we have to be really organized to get things out on time. I am usually there by 6 AM to get the stove going and start the preparations. It is a lot of standing on your feet and dealing with the heat, especially in the afternoons. We do not bother with fancy menus or anything like that. We just serve what we know how to make. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the narrow road out front, and people get a bit annoyed, but that is just how things are in this neighborhood. We have had the same regulars for years, mostly people who work nearby. It is a lot of work, but we like being here. It is just a normal restaurant doing its best to stay busy and keep things moving.
