Navjivan Restaurant

Our restaurant, Navjivan, is on the first floor of the Swaminarayan Complex in Paldi. We are right by the Mahalaxmi Five Road intersection. It’s a busy spot in Ahmedabad, especially in the evenings when everyone is out. Being on the first floor means you have to walk up the stairs, but people don’t seem to mind. We are quite close to Badshah Dairy and the Jain Merchant Society. Most of the folks who come in are families from the surrounding buildings. We’ve been here for a good while, watching the city grow around us. The dining hall is basic but spacious enough for big groups. We do a lot of traditional Gujarati style cooking because that’s what our neighbors like. There’s no head chef with a tall hat here. It’s just cooks who have been making these recipes since they were young. Sometimes the service is a bit slow when we have three large families arrive at the same time, but we do our best to catch up. We don't have a website or any of those modern things. We just rely on people walking by and seeing our sign from the road. It’s a practical place for a meal. We keep the water cold and the food hot. That’s really all people are looking for when they come up those stairs. It’s just a normal restaurant run by normal people who care about the food we serve.
