N K Shah & Sons is down in the basement of Agrawal Arcade. If you are at Ambawadi Circle, you just look for the Saffron Building and we are right near there. Being in Ambavadi is great because there is always something going on outside. The basement stays a bit cooler in the summer which is nice for us. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so it’s usually just a few of us down here. We’ve got the address set up so people can find us easily, but sometimes the basement entrance is easy to miss if you aren't looking. We spend a lot of our time just managing the day-to-day tasks. There is no fancy lobby or anything, just our workspace and the stuff we handle. It’s been this way for years. We like the rhythm of this neighborhood. The morning tea stall nearby is where we usually start our day before heading down to the shop. It is a practical space for what we do. We don't spend much on decorating the place because we are more focused on the work itself. Most of our neighbors in the arcade have been here as long as we have. It feels like a small village inside a big city. We just keep our heads down and do what needs to be done. If you come by, you’ll see we aren't about the frills. Just plain work in a plain basement.
