Mahesh Trading Co

Our place is at 349 Temla Pole, right opposite the main area in Ahmedabad. If you know the old city, you know that the poles are like a maze. It’s a very traditional neighborhood where everyone knows their neighbor's business. Mahesh Trading Co operates out of a building that has been around much longer than any of us. The doorway is narrow, and the stairs are steep, making it a bit of a challenge when we have to move boxes in and out. We deal with all sorts of goods, and the inventory is constantly shifting around the floor to make room for new arrivals. It’s not a polished environment. There is dust on the rafters and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it’s a working warehouse and office combined. We spend our mornings checking lists and talking to the transporters who struggle to bring their vehicles into these thin streets. The air smells like old wood and whatever we happen to be trading that week. It gets very crowded during the festivals when the whole pole is decorated and people are everywhere. We just keep the doors open and get through the day's work. It’s a simple operation with no frills. We don't use much technology besides a basic computer and our phones. It’s been this way for years and we don't see any reason to change it now.
