Jassi De Parathe

Jassi De Parathe is located in Sardar Centre, right near Nehru Park in the Vastrapur area of Ahmedabad. We actually have two shops here, number 3 and number 28. It’s a bit of a walk between them but it works for us. We are right opposite Vastrapur Lake, which is a very popular spot for people to go for walks or hang out in the evenings. Because of the lake, the weekends get really crowded and we barely have a moment to sit down. You can hear the noise from the park and the traffic all through the day. We spend most of our time at the tawa, making parathas one after another. There is always flour on someone's hands and the smell of ghee in the air. Sardar Centre is an old building, and it’s always got something going on. We have some regulars who have been coming to see us for years, and we know exactly what they want as soon as they walk in. The shops are small, so things can get a bit tight when it’s busy. We just try to keep the orders moving and make sure everyone gets their food. It gets really hot in the summer with the stoves going, but we have some fans to move the air around. We don’t bother with anything flashy or high-end. It’s just a local place where we work hard every day. We close up once the crowds at the lake start to thin out at night.
