We are located at number 1 Ashram Road, which is a pretty central spot if you're familiar with the city. Being right on such a main road means it's always noisy with traffic and people walking by. Our office is fairly simple, we’ve got some old wooden desks and a few filing cabinets that have seen better days. We deal mostly in cement, handling the orders that come in from local builders and contractors around the area. It’s a small team here, just three or four of us usually. We start early in the morning before the traffic gets too bad. The building itself is one of the older ones on this stretch, so it has that particular smell of old paper and concrete. We don't have a lot of fancy technology; we still write a lot of things down by hand in the registers. It’s just the way we’ve always done it. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, so we just open the windows and wait it out. It’s a very practical way of working. We don't spend money on advertising or big displays. People usually find us because they’ve been coming here for years or someone told them about us. We spend our days answering the phone and checking the inventory. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady and it keeps us busy. We like the location because everything is close by, even if the parking is a total nightmare most of the time. We just keep our heads down and get the cement out.
