Floor Seven

You have to take the elevator up to the top of City Gold Multiplex to find us. Being on the seventh floor means we get a decent view of Ashram Road, especially when the sun starts going down and all the car lights come on. It’s usually busy downstairs with people going to the movies, but it feels a bit different up here. We spend our mornings getting the kitchen ready and making sure the tables are wiped down properly. The air conditioning is usually running full blast because it gets pretty hot this high up in the building. Sometimes the lift takes a while if a big movie just finished, so we wait for the rush to hit. We aren't a big team, just a few of us working the floor and the kitchen. We keep the music at a level where you can actually talk. It’s mostly just a regular place where people come to grab a bite before or after their show. We don't have a lot of wall decorations, just some windows looking out over the city. Every night we close up after the last screening ends and the mall gets quiet. It can be a long walk to the parking lot at midnight. We’ve been in this spot for a bit and most of our regulars are just local folks from the neighborhood. We usually spend the last few minutes of our shift checking the window latches and turning off the kitchen lights.
