Everest Marble

The yard here at Plot No. 34 stays pretty loud because of all the traffic on the Sarkhej-Gandhi Nagar Highway. We’re right by Gota Cross Road, which means there is always a truck or a car zooming past while we are trying to move these heavy marble slabs. It’s a lot of physical work, mostly shifting stone from one pile to another or helping someone pick out a piece that doesn't have too many cracks. Gota has changed a lot since we first set up here. There used to be way more open space, but now it’s all buildings and busy intersections. We spend most of our time out in the sun, checking the patterns on the stone and making sure the measurements are right. Sometimes the rain makes everything muddy, and that’s a real mess to clean up, but the work doesn't stop. We aren't a big corporate office; it’s just us in the shed and the yard, dealing with whatever comes off the trucks. Most folks who stop by are just looking for something decent for their floors or counters. We show them what we have on the racks, talk about the price, and that’s about it. It’s hard on the back, but seeing a nice slab go out to a new home feels alright after a long day of work under the Gujarati sun.
