Cafe Udupi Ruchi

The shop is right on the ground floor of Navneet Plaza on C G Road. If you know Ahmedabad, you know how hectic C G Road gets, especially near the Municipal Market. We opened Cafe Udupi Ruchi to give people a place to sit down for a bit. It’s a busy spot. Most of our customers are just people out shopping or office workers on their lunch break. We serve the usual South Indian items because that’s what we know. The kitchen starts early in the morning to get the batters ready. It’s not a very big space, so during the afternoon, it can get a bit cramped. We try to keep the tables clean, but with the foot traffic, it’s a constant job. The noise from the street stays outside mostly, but you can still hear the honking sometimes. We don't do any fancy decorations. It's just plain walls and sturdy furniture. We have a few regulars who come in every single day for their coffee. They know where the spoons are kept and they don't even need to look at the menu. Sometimes we run out of certain things by evening if the day was particularly busy. That's just how it goes in a place like this. We’re just here doing our thing and making sure the food is hot when it reaches the table. It’s a simple setup for simple food and a bit of hard work.
