We are tucked away in the Arsi Corner Flats over in the Ellis Bridge area. It’s a bit of an unusual spot for a cotton company since it’s a residential building, but it works for us. We’ve got the 404 unit, so we’re up on one of the floors away from the street noise, though you can still hear the traffic from the bridge during rush hour. It’s a bit cramped with all the cotton samples and ledgers we keep around, but we manage. Most of our day is spent on the phone or checking through the different grades of cotton that come across our desks. We don’t have a big factory floor here, just the office where all the coordinating happens. Ellis Bridge is a busy part of the city, so there’s always something going on outside. Finding parking for visitors is usually a nightmare, so we mostly just deal with people we’ve known for years who know where to squeeze their bikes. The elevator in the building is a bit temperamental, so we end up taking the stairs more often than we’d like. It’s a small operation, really. Just a few of us making sure the numbers add up and the cotton gets where it needs to go. We don’t go in for anything flashy. We just have our desks, our files, and a lot of tea to get through the afternoon slump.
