Ambuja Cement

This branch is situated in the Railway Colony at Kodinar, which is in the Junagadh district of Gujarat. Specifically, we are at 3-E-C, 8 Quarter. It is a very industrial area, as you can imagine being so close to the railway lines. The noise of the trains going by is something we live with every day, and it sort of sets the rhythm for our work. It’s hot here most of the year, so the fans are always going in the office to keep the air moving. We deal with a lot of cement movements and keeping track of what is coming and going. The place is practical and built for work, not for showing off. We have a few desks and some old filing cabinets that have been here for years. You’ll usually see some dust on the surfaces because that’s just the nature of working with cement in a place like Kodinar. The staff here mostly lives nearby in the colony or in the town. We know each other pretty well and have our own ways of getting things done. Lunch breaks are usually taken together if it isn’t too busy with trucks. It is a straightforward operation where we focus on the logistics and making sure the orders are handled. No one here is looking for a corporate award; we just want to finish the shift and head back to our families after the day is done.
