Abhilasha Marble

Abhilasha Marble is located over in Gota Gam, right opposite the Khodiyar Temple on Gota Road. It’s a part of town that feels a bit more like a village even though everything around it is growing. We spend most of our days out in the yard. There is always stone to move and things to organize. Being near the temple means we see a lot of people walking by, especially on festival days. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the middle of the day. We have some shade but mostly we are out in it. It’s a basic operation here. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to handle the marble. The slabs are heavy and you have to be careful with them. Gota Road can be a bit of a headache with the traffic sometimes. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit since we started. There are more buildings now where there used to be empty space. But the temple is still there across from us. We get started early before it gets too hot. It is not the kind of job where you wear a suit. You get dirty and you work with your hands. That is just how it is at Abhilasha Marble. We don't have a fancy website or anything. We just stay here and do the work. It takes a lot of effort to move these stones.
