United Professional Consultants

Our office is at N-58, Gali 6 in Vijay Vihar. It is a small place, and if you aren't looking for it, you might walk right past the entrance. United Professional Consultants isn't a big firm with hundreds of employees; it is just a few of us sitting at desks piled high with folders and papers. We spend most of our time looking at forms and helping people figure out what they need to do for their various applications. The Gali is usually narrow and full of parked bikes, which makes it feel even smaller. Inside, the sound of the keyboard clicking is the main thing you hear, along with the ceiling fan that has a bit of a wobble to it. We don't have any fancy waiting room or coffee machines. People just come in, sit on the plastic chairs, and we talk through their problems. It can get pretty stressful when there are deadlines, but we just take it one file at a time. Sometimes we stay late when the work piles up, and we can hear the neighbors cooking dinner through the thin walls. It is a very local kind of operation. We know the shopkeepers nearby and the guys who deliver the mail. We just try to get the paperwork right so people don't have to come back twice. It is honest work, even if it is just a lot of typing and talking every single day.
