Tomer Sweet Palace

Our place, Tomer Sweet Palace, is located in Shahdara, specifically in the Balbir Nagar Extension on Gali Number 8. The address has a long number, 1046422, but most people just know us as the shop on the corner of the lane. It’s a typical local street, quite narrow and always full of life. We’ve been here for years, making sweets and the occasional fried snack like pakoras or samosas. The shop is quite small and the walls are a bit darkened from the smoke of the big iron pans we use in the back. It gets very hot, especially when we are frying things in the afternoon. We don’t have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that push the warm air around. We know almost everyone who walks through the door. We hear all the local gossip and news while we’re weighing out jalebis or packing up barfi. The street outside is usually a mess of parked scooters and kids running around, and sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time getting through. We don’t do any big advertising or have a website. People just know we are here and they come by when they want something sweet. It’s a simple business and we like it that way. We just try to make enough to keep things running and serve our neighbors every day.
